当時のユニバーサルの社長は母親の名前の変更（当時はメグという名前だった）、ドクのペットの変更（猿から犬へ）、ビフの苗字の変更、タイトルの変更を求めた。ゼメキスやゲイルは母親の名前を彼の妻のロレインに変更、ペットを犬に変え、ビフの苗字は社長の名前タネンに変更したが、タイトルの変更は阻止した。しかし社長はタイトルを本気で変更しようと改題提案を送り、困った制作陣はスピルバーグに相談。スピルバーグは社長に「面白いメモをありがとう。朝からみんな笑って撮影現場に活気が生まれた」と返事をした。社長はそれっきりタイトルの話はしなかったという。
